Referendum in CG district fails to pass

In the November 2 election, 57% of voters voted no to a referendum that would have raised property taxes to increase funding to schools. What does this mean for our district? School officials will proceed with planned budget cuts. This was a close vote, and it’s tough to raise taxes during difficult times, but unfortunately, this might be another step toward programs that already don’t have the funds to keep up the standard of excellence Center Grove has provided over the years.

In light of the recent vote, we would like to redouble our efforts to fundraise, and we need your help. We need ideas and, most importantly, actual manpower to implement ideas. Please post your ideas and an e-mail address if you would be willing be involved in a fundraiser. Once there is a plan in place, we will contact you to and ask for help.

If we are going to be able to offer grants to our beloved programs for the next academic year, we need more than just talk! We need warm bodies willing to help us raise money. We’ll do as much work as possible via e-mail, and dole out responsibilities based on everyone’s availability and geographic location.

Thank you so much! And no matter which way you voted, thank you for being responsible and voting.

Jenny and Alyshia
